No, that's not a new entry. I separated 'Terrible' into 'Revolting' and 'Terrible' so that anyone reading the whole Thing in chronological order would find out what happened to Daniel in the July Revolution before June '32.

For Yvi, a week and a day after her birthday, Duplicity.
XOXOX,
Petra
(All the rest of you: If I knew when your birthdays were, I'd embarrass you, too.)

I have convinced cathy to write RPS with me. It's another ongoing Diaryland-based project, still Les Misérables-a-riffic, but this time, there are a few real historical characters and I get to write for Enjolras. It's called Wreathed in Myrtle and it has only just begun. Come read and find out who the historical characters are.

Petronelle would like to apologize for her recent flood of inspiration and blame it on having too much schoolwork to finish before the end of next week. Doesn't everyone get the urge to write four vignettes instead of studying for a test? She would also like to apologize for Augustin, who really ought to have better manners than he does, but -- doesn't.

Petra's epigraph for 'Fidelity' is from Stephen Sondheim's musical, A Little Night Music. The song is, inappropriately enough, 'In Praise of Women,' and it is sung by a fellow who is having an affair with a woman named Désirée.
'Fidelity is more than mere display
It's what a man expects from life
Fidelity like mine to Désirée
Or Charlotte my devoted wife.'

*Cathy giggles madly* And the search request of the day is: personal gallery naked greek boy.
I wonder if a personal gallery of mostly-clothed French boys was close enough.
But we're turning up on search pages where the sponsored links are porn. I believe this is some sort of achievement.

Oh, mercy. The latest google is "a wasps nest with wasps coming out".
"Maman, Papa, I have something to tell you. I... I'm a revolutionary."

We thought it would be interesting to explore what would happen if our heroes survived. Conclusion: shoot 'em.

We have two new pictures courtesy of the incomparable Echo. You are all encouraged to run over and look. We promise that it is worth the ensuing headache.

Echo! Marry us! Oh, the figments we could spawn all together.

The other day, gentle readers, we had forty hits and no feedback whatsoever. This is not a good state of affairs. Leave us a note! If it is only to tell us we should be locked up without food or water or Internet access, leave us a note. Feedback is as the breath of life to us.

We now have a gallery page wherein to display the lovely, if slightly scandalous, works of art we have inspired. Go, admire.

For those who have some prurient curiosity, there is a piece that, if it were currently listed in the chronological index, would be entitled:
Indulgence (Prouvaire): October, 1828
There are naked boys in it doing naked-boy sorts of things. If you enjoy such reading material, you may like reading this. When we get to the proper point in the chronology, it will appear on the real Wasps' Nest page. For now, it lives at Petronelle's diary.

Today I discovered, to my chagrin, that in the fertile brain of this person there are an Aimery Enjolras, a Chretien Lesgle, and a Christophe Bahorel.
Really one would think the French language would provide a better selection of names for its sons. Tsk!

The incomparable Cillabub has drawn a picture. It now lives on the front page of her website, and is said to represent Julien and Audric (which Julien denies as slander, but that's because he's embarrassed. He likes to think he has a reputation left). Is she not marvelous?

A whole clutch of boys have just been registered with the Global Clearinghouse for Displaced Revolutionaries. Filling out forms is eversomuch more fun on a computer. Now they have backgrounds and obscure hometowns and things. La.

La belle Petronelle is at present under the weather and dosed with NyQuil, which leads her Dear Poet to behave in a manner she herself terms "Coleridgian".
Methinks this cold had best blow over soon, as the last thing Jehan needs is to be into the laudanum. We leave that sort of thing to Echo, who is so good at it.

Found in our casual reading, and delightfully apropos:
"Marchbanks' adventures with the medical profession were many and often disquieting. It was this same doctor (a man of unimpeachable personal and professional character) who once said to him, while conducting a rectal examination, 'Have you ever given any thought to joining the Masons, Mr. Marchbanks?' Marchbanks knew, of course, that modern fraternal orders -- Masons, Oddfellows, Moose, Bison etc. -- all trace their antecedents back to the mystery religions of Ancient Greece, but he had not supposed the Greek influence went quite so far as this collocation of question-and-action suggested." (Robertson Davies, The Papers of Samuel Marchbanks)
Our minds may be lodged all too firmly in the gutter, but it does afford us so many opportunities for amusement.
